20 Things To Do With Your Sister

Ever get bored of doing the same things with your sister every day? Listed here are some of the things my sister and I love to do together, and I’m sure you will too. These were written to mix and match, for example do make-overs (#3) during a movie night (#4). Happy reading!

1. Play dolls or dollhouse

This activity may seem childish, especially for teen sisters, but for girls ages 3-12 it is a lot of fun and a great way to incorporate imagination.

2. Make a fort

Childish again? I think not. This is fun for girls of all ages! A secluded little world with just a few blankets and a couple chairs, and it doesn’t just have to be a place to play house. It could be a music center or a reading nook, or just maybe a place to hang out. Need inspiration? Look here.

3. Do Make-Overs

Grab a few bottles of nail polish, a bag of make-up, and a few hair accessories and you’re all set for an hour (or two, maybe three) of glittery, lipstick-covered fun! Afterwards, grab a camera and take a photo shoot, silly or serious. For more ideas on the matter, click here

4. Movie Night

And no little brothers allowed! Bake a snack (or buy one ahead of time) and watch your favorite movie/T.V show together.

5. Host a Party Together

Work together and host a super-sleepover with all your friends. Prepare games, snacks, sleeping arrangements, etc, and maybe even theme it with something you both love (think mustaches, fashion shows, glitter).

6. Make Crafts Together

Whether it’s decorating paper plates or diving into a sewing project, crafts are great opportunities to bond with your sister(s), and my sister and I love to do these together.

7. Read to Each Other

Reading aloud to each other is fun, especially when reading a book you both relate to. Plus, you focus and understand a book more when reading it out loud; also very convenient for when you both want to read a book and are fighting over it!

8. Have a Water Fight!

Grab the hose, a few water balloons, and maybe even your little brother’s water gun and you’re all set for an afternoon of fun! Swimsuits are also required, unless you two are the type that like to get your clothes wet, but no rules. If you’re not a type for water fights, then at least this should give you some ideas!

9. Have a Girl Date

This activity is targeted more for sisters who can drive or are allowed to walk places by themselves. Go get frozen yogurt, shop at your favorite stores (book stores, clothing stores, candy stores, etc), and make memories. My favorite? Go to a clothing store and try on prom dresses, funny outfits, cute outfits, etc and take pictures! It’s fun and is great for older sisters.

10. Bake/Cook Together

This is a great bonding one too! Pick out a fun new recipe or a favorite old one and go to town. It’s also really fun to experiment with new ingredients, whether it’s gummy worms on pizza or Snickers bars on cupcakes! There are endless possibilities, and at the end be sure to cover each other in flour and sugar!

11. Make a Scrapbook

A few years ago, my sister and I pulled out an old binder notebook and asked our Mom to put aside some old magazines. When she did, we had a lot of fun cutting out everything from delicious-looking food to funny cartoon animals! This is really great and I highly recommend it for sisters. You can also use pictures of each other in your scrapbook.

12. Pillow Fight

The title is pretty self-explanatory–pull out a bunch of pillows, and start fighting! At the end, make a pillow pallet and camp out on it. Sister fun!

13. Get Your Hair Done

At least once, you and your sister should go get your hair done professionally at the salon! Great times are right before prom,  a last bit of sister time before a wedding, or maybe just to celebrate life. Then, take pictures and put them in the scrapbook!

14. Play Boardgames

Drop the controllers and pull out your favorite board games! Not sure which ones are the best? I recommend Scrabble, Bubble Talk, Bananagrams, Anything Goes, Cranium, Monopoly, and Battleship. Those are the really fun ones that many time my sister and I have broken out in peals of laughter over! Enjoy.

15. Make Videos

Whether it’s a parody of a sappy romance movie or a homemade version of American Idol, this is a really fun way to make memories and laugh about it later. Then, when they’re done, show the whole family.

16. Camp Outdoors

If you have a tent, pitch it in your back yard, grab some bedding and head out! Make s’mores, sing campfire songs, tell horror stories and let out your biggest secrets. If you get bored? Get a laptop and watch a movie.

17. Camp Indoors

Planned a great camping party with your sister and the rain starts pouring? No problem! Pitch your tent inside (don’t stick it in the floor–weigh it down!), then continue with the s’more making, secret-telling, and movie-watching. Have fun!

18. Listen to Music and Have a Dance Party
Turn on a song you both love and have a dance party! Don’t be embarrassed to be silly; you’re sisters, after all.

19. Do Karaoke

My sister and I love music, so this is one of our favorite things to do. Either plug in headphones and a mic and do it on YouTube or plug in the amp and do it the loud way!

20. Tea Party

Yes, you had one when you were five. No, it hasn’t lost its charm! Endless possibilities to tea parties. I will say no more so you can just think for a minute…

So, those are just a few great things to do with your sister. I hope you liked them, and I also hope that you and your sister will bond and have fun with them! Remember, for more good ideas, thoughts, and advice visit Whole Girl!
